Position Details

Wesleyan University’s Department of Chemistry invites applications for a one-year appointment as a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry beginning July 1, 2018. The visitor will be the administrator for the sophomore-level instructional laboratories and will teach a total of seven of the individual sections over the course of the academic year. In addition to providing the weekly lab lecture, the visitor will have responsibility for supervising teaching assistants and managing the laboratory preparation with the assistance of departmental staff. Previous experience in teaching comparable laboratory courses and expertise with a variety of standard laboratory instrumentation, while not required, is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field in hand by the time of appointment to be hired as an Assistant Professor; a successful candidate may be hired as an Instructor if the candidate does not have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment, but will complete the Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field within the year of the appointment.
